CANAAN CHATMAN Founder/ Head Coach
Benson Polytechnic - '90 Portland Community - '93 University of Portland - '95
A native of Portland, OR. Canaan Chatman was captain of the 1990 Benson High State Championship team, where he earned All League and All State honors as a senior. He received a full scholarship to Oregon State University, in which he started 14 games as a freshman. He would later transfer to the University of Portland leading the Pilots to their most winningest seasons in school history. While playing basketball he received numerous accolades including “Athlete of the Year”, “Player of the Year”, “Newcomer of the Year”, Most Valuable Player, All League, All District, All Region and All Tournament to name a few. After graduating from the University of Portland in 1995 with a Bachelors in Sociology/ Communications, he spent six seasons playing professionally overseas and is now working as Regional Director of Grassroots basketball for adidas America.

EARL CLARK JR. Associate Head Coach
Benson Polytechnic- '95 College of Sequoias- '97 Portland State University- '01
A 1995 Graduate of Benson High and 2001 graduate of Portland State University, Coach Clark has built his reputation as both a player(Pacific/ Cal St.Dominguez) and a head mens varsity basketball(LaSalle HS) on hardwork and commitment. As associate head coach for ICP basketball, Earl has positioned himself in a national network, in order to present opportunities for kids throughout Oregon. He is currently employed as Student Advancement Coordinator for LaSalle High School in Clackamas County.

JEFFEREY MCGEE General Manager/ Assistant Coach
Encina High School (CA.)- '93 Fresno State University- '98
Jeff a native of Portland has recently relocated to the Portland area after graduating from Fresno State in 1998, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. Coach McGee has over 10 years experience in personal training and will focus on most of the conditioning and tracking regimens of our athletes. While working with team/ parent coordinators, Coach McGee plans and executes all team travel, while maintaining day to day operations for Inner City Players Athletics. He spends his days, mentoring youth as a guidance counselor for the Morrison Center.

DAVID SHEPHARD Recruitment Coordinator/ Assistant Coach
Grant High School- '90 AL Hardy Academy of Theology- '96
Coach Shephard is a life long Northeast community activist, who has spent a great deal of his time volunteering for philanthropic efforts. Coach Sheps' primary responsibilty with ICP Athletics evolves around identifying and evaluating potential ICP athletes. spending over (5) years with various assistant positions in the Portland Interscholastic League, Coach Shephard has been able to build multiple relationships with corporate and basketball communities abroad. By day, David has worked for Multnomah County for the past (9) years, as a Library Outreach Specialist.

ZACK DAVIS Strength & Conditioning Coordinator/ Assistant Coach
Banning High School (CA.)- '88 Oregon State University- '93
Zack, originally from southern California, relocated to Oregon in 1988 after accepting a full scholarship to play football at Oregon State. Completing his degree in '88, Coach "Z" headed to the Portland area where he began volunteering time in schools and communities, abroad. His duties within the ICP organization evolves around the development of physical and mental fitness for our student athletes. Zack spend his days, working in the insurance field with Progessive.

TONY MELSON Community Relations Coordinator/ Assistant Coach
Jefferson High School (CA.)- '88 Portland State University- '93
Tony, a lifelong member of the north/ northeast Portland community has been involved with ICP Athletics for several years as a parent and volunteer. Now in his first official season, Coach Melson will coordinate partnerships with neighboring agencies, in an effort to provide a variety of academic, social and athletic opportunities for our student athletes. By day, Tony serves as recreational Supervisor for the Center of Self Enhancement (SEI).

JERRY ALLEN Skill Development Coordinator/ Assistant Coach
Skyline High School (IN.)- '86 FT. Wayne Community College (IN.)- '92
Jerry, originally from Indiana, is a 1994 graduate of the University of Portland where he started at point guard for two years. Since then, Coach Allen has gained extensive coaching experience ranging from grassroots basketball stints with adidas, Nike and Reebok to ultimately landing his first college head coaching job at Portland Community College, in 2001. Coach Allen is currently the Head Mens Basketball Coach at Franklin high school. By day Jerry serves as an educator in the Portland Public Schools system.

SHAREIF METOYER
Long Beach Poly High School '92 University of Portland ' 96
Shareif, a native of Long Beach, California, is a 1996 graduate of the University of Portland and 2 year letterman for the NCAA tourney bound Pilots. Coach Metoyer is now entering his 6th years as Varsity head mens basketball coach for the national powerhouse Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits. By day Coach Mtoyer serves as Vice Principal/ Dean of Student Affairs at his alma mater. |
